ORT Braude College of Engineering is promoting a multi-stage program for entrepreneurship and interdisciplinary training, which is open to all students at the college. In the first phase, students participate in an “Engineering and Society” course, where they are exposed to social challenges and the relevant population, identifying needs, problems and opportunities. At the end of the semester, the four-day Hackaton takes place, where multidisciplinary teams develop preliminary solutions to the challenges they have learned, under the guidance of college lecturers and external mentors. Teams interested in this continue to the “Interdisciplinary Project” course, in which the projects are developed under the guidance of a supervisor from the college and an external mentor – a client. The faculty from the college works collaboratively and serves as examiners and additional facilitators when needed for other groups. During the project, three sessions of the entire course are held with the participation of the course center, academic facilitators and mentors: initiation meeting and familiarity with the projects, presentation of PDR – insights about the challenge and work planning for the continuation of the project, and presentation of CDR – development process Customer and users: Implement and use the system, including a user guide, a training program for teams, and a description of applicability for potential markets. At the end of the course, appropriate teams continue to the project development phase until the stage of proving feasibility and recruiting investors in a framework that is not academic but supported by the college
