Haifa Innovation Labs is the University of Haifa’s center for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Launched in 2019, the center was established to instill and promote an entrepreneurial environment on campus and offer students a unique learning experience that combines academic excellence with practical hands-on experience. Our center focuses on “Designing a Better World” through social innovation and impact entrepreneurship.

Our program includes four primary components:

HIL Academic: courses and workshops that are open to all students (undergraduate and graduate).

The Innovation Nursery: multidisciplinary teams of students tackle a real-life social or environmental challenge and develop a proof-of-concept for an innovative product or service. The accredited academic program is based on the Design Thinking methodology for innovation, and offers students a unique learning experience, including mentoring by experienced professionals.

HIL Fund: providing early-stage ventures, created by students and recent university graduates, with access to funding and mentorship. Professional services are provided by industry experts.
The funds activities are operated and supervised by students who have completed special training (see short video clip)

HIL Sparks: special events with our partners on and off campus to promote an entrepreneurial spirit on campus.

The University of Haifa is buoyed on by perpetual innovation and enterprise. In 2019, it debuted the Haifa Innovation Labs, or, as students know it, the HIL — a program that nurtures entrepreneurship by combining academics with hands-on experience. Open to all students, it aims to design a better world through courses on topics such as business planning for start-ups; the innovation process for new products; and developing interpersonal skills.

The University of Haifa has become the latest Israeli university to launch a student venture capital fund, seeking to boost entrepreneurship on campus by investing in start-ups run by students, academics and recent graduates. The HIL Fund was established by the University of Haifa Innovation Labs (HIL) in partnership with fresh.fund.
